Farmers today are experiencing a paradigm shift driven by advancements of digital technologies. They are forced to find new ways to produce more food while consuming fewer resources and doing so in a sustainable manner.


It is imperative that producers increase productivity to ensure our long-term food supply. By embracing digital farming, farmers can maximize agricultural output while minimizing environmental impact. Through the integration of the Internet of Things, high accuracy GPS, big data analytics, geospatial solutions and Artificial Intelligence, farmers can make data driven decisions to increase productivity and profitability. In this case study, we created a “Smart Farm” platform to drive data insights from a combination of digital technologies.

Lifescale Analytics Approach

Lifescale Analytics addressed this challenge by implementing a Smart Farm platform that bridges the gap between operational and spatial information. LSA developed web and mobile applications that enable growers to visualize and manage inputs and performance variables of farm operations.

By employing the solution’s field boundary generator, growers are able to track activity and monitor performance of individual fields. This allows growers to visualize how inputs and environmental variables influence yield across sites and regions.

Through aggregating data from implement & field-based sensors and high-resolution GPS, along with environmental (topography, soil type, soil moisture, precipitation), digital phenotyping (vigor, uniformity, lodging, tasseling, stay green), and yield data (harvest variability and efficacy), growers are able to visualize and garner deep insight into farm operations.
